It's official! Tuesday, November 4, 2008 will be remembered for generations to come, never to be forgotten. Senator Barack Hussein Obama has been elected the 44th President of the United States of America, at 47 years of age and the first African-American to do so. It's a new dawn in America's politics. Signed, sealed, delivered!President-elect Obama, is as of this moment, indelibly etched in the pages of history. He will be remembered far more than the color of his skin. His rise to the highest office in America goes beyond race. It is a rise, I believe that is sanctioned by God, to bring His people together, from diverse enclaves, for a common good.
President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden will both take the oath of office on January 20, 2009. A date when the world will again be watching.
The first African-American family will be moving to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, in Washington D.C. - the White House.
President-elect Barack Obama on Tuesday night delivered a moving and significant speech. A message of inclusion. He told thousands packed into Chicago's Grant Park that "Change has come to America." "This victory belongs to you". "I will be a President to all America". Surely, we all know that this is but only the beginning. There will be challenges and there will be no easy fixes. Obama is cognizant of that fact and has catalogued them. But, by faith in God, he will make it through. Personally, I believe this is the beginning of greater things to come. Yes, the best is yet to come.
One must give kudos to Senator John McCain who was gracious in his concession speech; congratulating President-elect Obama, amidst a few boos in the crowd. "I pledge to him tonight to do all in my power to help him lead us," McCain said. "I wish Godspeed to the man who was my former opponent and will be my president...". A class act by this veteran, I must say. Senator John McCain will have his part to play in the the new America, a significant part, I am sure.
I give thanks for my brothers and sisters who paved the way, blazed the trail and made the ultimate sacrifice, many years ago, to bring about this change. Change we believe in.
It is truly an exciting time to be alive. I am thankful that I was around to witness this moment, on this day. BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!
